Join Gallery Zella's co-founder Zella Hannum and the gallery's best selling painter Jon Houglum in Southern Spain this spring for two separate 3-day workshops 9am-3pm each day for a once in a life immersion experience. Each three-day workshop is only $300 for 18 hours of instruction and includes all paints and materials. Jon's international reputation has been growing for decades and was invited by Maxine Friday and her husband Klaus Schumacher to conduct two three-day workshops on their beautiful four acre farm in Orgiva, Spain. The first is a 3-day landscape workshop May 16-18; the second is a 3-day portrait workshop May 23-25. Jon earned his degree in fine arts from the University of Minnesota and studied four years with a dutch master to learn the fine art of "light from within under-painting". He teaches renaissance style oil painting using translucent layers of paint for dramatic yet subtle dimensional effects that result in visually dynamic luminescent images. His paintings evoke a connection to the great master painters of Europe such as Rembrandt and Leonardo DeVinci. Now you can learn from a master painter in these two immersion workshops. Indeed, not only is Jon a great painter he is a gifted teacher. Whether you plan to fast forward your painting career or simply relax retreat style and take your painting skill up a single notch, these workshops will take you there. She has been taking Jon's workshops stateside since the first of the year and as a rank beginner has found her progress truly inspiring. Libations and finger foods provided. While this exhibit is optional, we do hope some of you will be able to join us back stateside in the beautiful tourist town of Bryson City.
